Tempano

The soul of the music in all its multidimensional depths

Since its inception in 1977, Tempano has been a trail maker in the music industry in Venezuela.

In the seventies in Venezuela, few local bands had the notoriety that Tempano did. Since then, they have been collecting huge successes, both nationally and internationally. Although the band members changed over the years; In 1998, after 18 years of not being together, the original assemblage met again. And now after almost 20 years the band continues to discover novel sounds and experiment with features of contemporary rock and different styles of music hardly heard in other bands. Their unique style is more aligned with progressive rock. However, Tempanohas a very peculiar sound in which splendid melodies, complex breaks and very well-written themes highlight their uniqueness. Tempano is a remarkable blend of symphonic composition, with jazz-rock influences, combined with classical inspiration, and ultimately intertwined with the warm romanticism of Latin music. A masterful combination of styles like no other.

As a music enthusiast and a photographer this project presented interesting challenges. First and foremost, I pursue the beauty of the music in all its multidimensional depths. It immediately become a soul-searching experience, mine and of the performers. Then I worked conscientiously to faithfully covert this emotional experience into two-dimensional representations. The added trials of the undertaking were not be able to control light, frame, and the relentless movement of the musicians and their fans. The resulting images are a rendering of how I personally translate the cross-borders dialect of music, into the not less universal language of images.
