Biography

Alberto was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He currently lives in Florida, USA. His photographic journey started at the age of thirteen with his first dark room. In his own words: “I vividly remember the first time I saw the image slowly appearing in my developing tray. That magic awakened my imagination then, and still does today.” In his late teens, in 1974, he already knew that photography was going to become his passion, so he studied at “Foto-Expresión”, in Caracas, with the renowned photographer and filmmaker Joaquín Cortés. For many years he worked as a professional photographer, in photo journalism and advertising.

Later in life, a career change led him to shift to the amateur photographic creation. Alberto remain interested in reportage photography, but lately also stirred his attention to minimalist portraits, urban landscapes and constructivist images. Most of his work is in black and white. His intent is to reveal the drama that emerges between the purest white, the darkest black and the multiple shades in between. He enjoys sharing his views of the world through his photographs, as he says: “I will be forever amazed by the fact that in taking a snapshot of a moment I can portray the ordinary in my unique perspective.”

What started as a teenage curiosity, turned into a career, and then to a passionate hobby. Alberto has been an enthusiast photographer for more than 40 years.  Over time photography has transformed tremendously, but he still feels mesmerized by the way the lens captures the light to eternalize instants. Alberto’s work has been recognized and exhibited worldwide for the strong design components of his images.
